Nokia and Android

Do you think that if Nokia will go to Android, will it change a lot for the company?

If they made an Android Nokia phone, I will buy it in a heartbeat

I think it will get their name out there more, get them noticed more. Android is in the limelight right now. I believe going with Android woulda been a quick fix, safer route.

They are gambling with WP7. Usually the gamble pays off big. What I dont get is why not make a WP7 and Android phone?

they are now married with microsoft... for better or worse..

my prediction... the marriage will do well... but will not be more than 3rd market niche.. for business users.

nokia has a huge world market...
and if they develop a dumded down version of WP7 for dumb phones .. cheap inexpensive .. with some nice features... they will on paper, get huge market numbers fast.

The company will have to change a lot before they would go Android. They already looked at Android and decided to go Windows Phone instead. The people who made this decision and support it are there and unless these people move on, I cannot see Nokia reversing its decision to go Android.

I honestly loved Nokia and their beautiful phones, but after their CEO was fired back in September 2010 and their continued support for Symbian with no significant huge updates or changes to their OS, I had to jump on the Android Bandwagon in hopes that Nokia will come back strong with their Linux based OS Meego (formally Maemo 6) as I thought Maemo 5 on the Nokia N900 was pure awesomeness but lack of a large market like android....but then Nokia made an alliance with Windows and my hopes seemed to come crashing down =(

I tried Nokia phones (I so wanted a N8) but then with the same price an Android phone can do so much better.

Yeah, Nokia would be the top again if they just put Android phones out there.

nokia wants to be like apple..... try to seperate themselves...
to many androids and oems.... tough market.

so they wanted something different.

i am guessing.... with the marriage and the billion dollars from MS.
MS has agreed to let nokia create the only skin for WP7.
Nokia will look different from anything else... without having to keep up with R&D on OS.

WP7 is just too geeky for the mass market, and Symbian's been dying on it's arse for a good 4 years now and honestly i don't think Nokia's gonna steal much market share from Apple and Android because they still mainly just gonna get people who just want a well made phone that can do some extra stuff, i mean how many people here really want a phone running WP7 when you know it's always just gonna get the left over dregs of apps from the other 2 and you'll always be looking at crappy cheaper Android phones with jealousy.

They're losing this market because of this. Though they are still failing good with in my country. But it is only because Nokia is one of the cheapest phone here.
