Root Non removable battery?!

Odin89

Android Enthusiast
Hey, does the iconic phablet really have a non removable battery?! And wouldnt this pose a problem if bricked? Or would one simply be able to reboot via adb? Only trying to be cautious

With my galaxy tab
Which had a non removable battery
And was given to me bricked without a custume recovery.

I was able to hold power for a while to get it to power off then boot into download mode [or bootloader on other devices] and flash using hemidal a custum recovery which then allowed a rom to be flashed.

Hope this is some help to you.

If it does get bricked, worst case scenario is you have to wait until the battery completely dies, then boot into download mode. There may also be some way to disconnect the battery, like a reset button or something, but i highly doubt it.

I dont know if his phablet has download mode. It may have a bootloader like htc and moto devices. Which would use fastboot and the android sdk fastboot app instead of odin or hemidall

If it's like the other 6 devices that this is based on, it has download mode, and I have ways of recovering it in all but the most extreme bricks (if it can't boot to dfu mode, [different than fastboot mode] then it's sol)

Awesome, thankyou for the replies had been wondering. Wanted to make sure before i picked it up. Seems to be no real threat just wish it was removable, ah well cnt wait to get one!

Bricked up testing, turns out holding power = a reboot if bricked on 4g logo. If you hold volume down and power while rebooting it goes to recovery

(Hold)
Power for about 10 seconds = reboot

(Hold)
Power + vol down wait for it to boot twice and boom, recovery

Edit: button combo works everywhere iv tested it, 4g logo, bootloader, OS

This is typical for all non removable battery devices I have seen.

I would have mentioned this earlyer but I thought most folks knew.

I played around with the device last night before rooting it and found download mode (mostly likely)= FTM that is what popped up on my screen when I tried it. I don't know exactly if it is the same but maybe someone can figure it out.

FTM stands for "Field Test Mode". I believe a factory Tech can connect a device via usb and run diagnostics.
