Help Non responsive unlock screen

Just got a S3 as thinking about swapping from my iphone.

I like the phone once I can get it to unlock.

I've set a PIN but the problem is that 80% of the time the screen won't respond on the unlock screen.

Usually holding the home button for 5 seconds a couple of times make the screen respond , I put in the PIN and the phone is great after that. It's purely the repsonse time when I need to unlock the phone.

Any Ideas ?

Does it respond more promptly to a push of the power button? If so, you might have a faulty home button. If you experience the same issue with the power button, maybe it's a software issue. Either way, I've had 3 android phones now and all have responded immediately to a push of the power/home button. Your situation certainly does not seem normal.

I didn't think it was a faulty home button and indeed I have actually managed to resolve it.

I had to turn off the wi-fi power save mode by going into the service menu *#0011#

Since then been fine. I was reminded as the phone tried to install a firmware update today and I had to redo the fix !
