non-SE headset won't work

I bought the x10 mini pro yesterday and so far so good except for one thing. none of headphones or earphones work on it, only the one that came in the box. is there something wrong my phone? and is there anything i can do about it?

Other headphones have worked for me. I've even connected it to my speakers once for the heck of it!
