Root Non-techie and link2sd

Hi all,
I rooted/switched to xtrsense a year or so ago with much help from this board (thank you) and I barely remember the process. Now I'm wanting to gain the capability to move apps to the sd card. link2sd is already on my phone along with superuser so I'm assuming they came with xtrsense. I'm not sure I can follow the steps to partitioning my sd card and moving apps. I've searched previous threads but can't quite find it step-by-step in dummmie language.

I recognize I need to back up the sd card first.... does that simply mean making a copy of it on my pc hard drive? If so, I've done that.... what's next?

Well, I never tried link2sd myself, but xtrSENSE supports and includes a script for apps2sd. The prerequisite steps are listed in the first post here: [ROM][GPL][3/15/2011] xtrSENSE5.0.1 [cache2cache,apps2sd,oc,jit]-HTC Sense - xda-developers

Look under "apps2sd and cach2sd" for the steps that you need to do to prepare the sd card. Yes, backing up is copying the files from sd to your computer. After doing those steps, also read through the steps under gscript in that list and just use the apps2sd script. After preparing the sd card, running that script and restarting the phone, all of your apps will be on the sd card.

I hope this helps...

Thanks doogald, I'm getting up at 4AM so I'm going to bed now but maybe I'll be able to get into this on the weekend. I took a quick look though and I notice that that thread is talking ver 5x of extrsense.... I have ver 4.6.5. Maybe that's why I have link2sd instead of apps2sd?

Oh, could be. Look in the gscripts and choose the one that works. Do a Nandroid backup first, just in case, so you can go back if things do not work.
