Help Non-US Gingerbread for US device, What's the difference?

I'm curious if any of you know what the difference is between a US Gingerbread release and a European Gingerbread release?

I ask because if I can get the 2.3 Gingerbread update on my phone off a different countries release and there's no difference then I'm going ahead and doing so.

If it's more than just the language settings then i'll wait for the US release ofcourse.

There are enough physical differences with the phone that I wouldn't risk it. You would likely end up with a brick.

Thanks for your time and reply. My Captivate is my first Android phone and I'm really disliking this firmware upgrade availability issues and their release dates.

I have no idea if other phones/carriers are any better or worse for me to compare or to give up on my Captivate. I won't give up on Androids though, that's for sure.
