Help Noob having phone reception problem

I got this Samsung Galaxy Centura Tracfone a few months and I can't get a phone connection once I get 40 or so miles out of the St. Louis area. The phone works fine in town. My old Motorola Tracfone worked fine even out in the boonies.

Is there a setting that I can adjust or should I call "Carl" who is sitting crosslegged in his thatched hut in Pakistan for help?

It depends on the carrier - the Centura is normally Verizon. Install Signal Check Lite and see what carrier you're on and how strong the signal is where you start losing coverage. If you need coverage out there, maybe you need the same carrier your Motorola was on.
