NOOB question, RootDim

Hi guys, new here and this is my first post as yall can see. I got a question.

How do I achieve root privileges on my Samsung ZTE Warp so I can run RootDim. on my phone and use the camera led for flashlight apps?

Thanks guys! :D

Not sure who told you that root is needed to use the LED, so download this app instead and save yourself the hassle.

I honestly can't remember how i found out that this model phone requires rootdim to utilize the led but its true. Research it. Ive tried every flashlight app on the market and just like everyone else who leaves feedback with this particular phone, the led does not work.

All I really need to know is how to access root privileges for rootdim please.

Hi slant6matt, and welcome to AF :)

Rooting methods depend on the device. The best thing would be to visit your device's forum here (in the Android Phones section of AF). That will have a subforum called "All Things Root" which is where you will find information about how to root the device and other people with experience of doing it.

Remember that your warranty is void if the phone is rooted, though there are almost always ways of undoing this. Do make sure you understand what you are doing before proceeding.

I think you have a ZTE Warp, but am a little confused because you alao said it is a Samsung. Either way it is doable, but the tools will differ.

Good luck.

So I have to root my phone just to give roodim rooting privileges? That's kinda what I figured but I was hoping that rooting and achieving root privileges was two different things cause I'm not all that fond of completely hacking my phone's OS system just to allow flashlight apps to utilize the camera flash led. Seems a little redonkulous. Especially on a phone like this that features minimal irremovable bloatware and useless apps.

Rooting is essentially jailbreaking for the phone right?

And as far as I knew, Samsung does make the ZTE Warp. The box in came in from the Boost COR store labeled it as a Samsung Galaxy ZTE Warp. Why such confusion? lol

On another subject, do you guys seriously not have a smiley that laughs? Or did I miss it?

Rooting is analogous to jailbreaking an iPhone. Though an unrooted android lets you do many things you need to jailbreak an iPhone to do. Needing root to use the led seems to be a unique quirk of your model though!

Samsung (Korean) and ZTE (Chinese) are different companies - and the Chinese aren't outsourcing production to Korea. I have no idea who printed that packaging - that level of confusion usually means that a marketing department have been allowed to work unsupervised ;)

As for smilies, do you mean this one? :D
