Root Noob Questions after root

I sucessfully unlocked and rooting my orange san fran yesterday, but I noticed that the bootup time takes about a minute.
Is there an option to fastboot?

Also does anyone know a good app to change the bootup animation? (I tryed one yesterday but it doesn't work)

Last question, how do I get to update rom/firmware on my phone?
The info. i currently have is froyo r10 kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf android version 2.2

yeah it's an awesome guide, I can confirm I followed that one, and, just chose a different rom, when I did it
