TP that I was able to put Android on sometime ago. I can not remember which version or even how I was able to do it, it has been so long. I want to say Ice Cream, if that means anything. I had been using the TP successfully for months. Now after a charge, it stays on the Android splash perpetually. A hard re-boot brings up the Boot menu, HOWEVER it is unresponsive to the touch.
Any hope, advice, links?
Thanks!

I have been reading forums for weeks now.
So I want to describe what is happening the best that I can:
The TP displays the battery with a lightning bolt and a red line when plugged in, after about 15 minutes, I get the Android colorful splash screen that stays in a perpetual loop.
The screen is non-responsive. That is where I am right now. I feel like I am missing something in my approach but need some gentle guidance for solutions.

Sounds like you're stuck in a bootloop. It's not usually a problem as you might have
a) either changed some setting or
b) deleted a system file.
If it is a then a simple factory reset will solve the problem. To do that simply boot into your device's boot menu (which I think you know as you mentioned it in your post). The touch won't work here, you have to navigate via the volume buttons and select via the power button. Go do a full factory reset from the menu (if it doesn't show up, go to the recovery menu (it should be in the boot menu) you will have to hold the volume up button once the android with an exclamation mark shows up along with the power button). Also do a delvik cache wipe. This will however wipe all data from your tab. But you don't really have any other choice.
If it is option b then I suggest you follow the guide here
[ROM GUIDE] How to Update/Install Android 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 Builds on the HP TouchPad - xda-developers
and simply reinstall Android from scratch.

Thank you much for your reply.
It was very explicit and helpful.
For some unexplained reason, the tablet was able to boot into WebOS last night without my having to follow your steps.

What is your recommendation at this point?
I am concerned with any settings primarily I may not be aware of *before* I attempt putting the latest Android on the my TP.

Thank you again so very much.

Hi Jilter,

Try booting into recovery and clearing your cache and Dalvik cache, then reboot. Make sure you want at least 10 minutes for it to boot.

If that doesn't work and you have a recent recovery backup, you could restore it.

If that isn't an option, you can try factory reset, which will restore your TP to the way it was before you set it up. You'd lose all apps and settings, but Play Store should restore your apps and a few settings.

Last resort would be to Acme uninstall Android. Then find a rom you like and install that.
