Root not booting after custom kernel download

Lurker
My HTC shift booting sequence is off- it keeps looping and comes back with a white screen. This happened after I accidentally installed a kernel meant for android 2.3 and I am running 2.2. I have s-off and I am able to boot into recovery. I have spent hours on this and I would very much appreciate any suggestions. I am pretty new to this, so I might have missed a thread that answers my question. If that is the case I would appreciate a link in the right direction. Thank you

Make sure you do a full wipe before flashing the ROM. Also make sure you are on the latest clockwork recovery. Worst case scenario you can run the ruu but flashing a fresh ROM should do the trick...

I wiped cache partition, wiped data, did a factory reset, wiped Dalvik cache – all to no avail…

Wiping everything twice fixed me up! I am now running android 2.3.4 with Supreme Sense X, but the Rom is unstable

Well you could be pushing it to hard how long did you let it settle before the kernel flash?
Did you wipe everything manually?
And honestly supreme should never be labeled unstable

I did not realize I was supposed to let it settle so I flashed the kernel at the same time I flashed the rom

Well no its not but im running ss 11 now
What kernel version are you running

I am on kernel version 2.6.35.10. The only problem is that as soon as I download new content and restart the phone I see nothing but the wallpaper. Apps do not show up unless I slide the keyboard and even then there is no animation in the apps appearances..I am able to restore functionality only by booting into recovery and restoring... I dont understand what I am doing wrong...
