Help Not charging, causing USB power surge

Plugged my G2 into wall adapter to charge today. Amber light goes solid for roughly 10 seconds, then turns off. Phone does not continue to charge. Plugged the USB into car head unit, received the error message "current error" which signals that and abnormal power current is being sent.

When plugged into the computer through USB, I get the error message "power surge on Hub port: a device has exceeded the power limits of its Hub port"

I tried switching batteries with a friend who also has a G2...same issue. My battery charges just fine in his phone. Tested his phone on both usb ports and his does not cause the same error message.

I have scoured the forum looking for similar issues and could not find anything, I apologize if a similar thread is out there and I missedd it. I appreciate any help!
