Help Not enough memory for update

Pattie

Newbie
Hi everyone,

My husband's S5 does not have enough memory for the latest update. He often gets warnings that he is running out of device memory, and that his photos soon won't save. All photos (he has a lot) are saved on the SD card. I have moved all apps to the SD card that I could, and loaded clean master, but he can't get the new update due to lack of device memory.

When I check device storage, 8.61 GB is applications, and 5.47 GB is the dreaded "miscellaneous files." 5.46 GB of that is System Memory. Pictures/videos, auto, downloads, and cached data take up small amounts of space, not even one GB.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have him buy an extSDcard, or a bigger one if he has one already.

Then go into Camera Settings and make sure the Camera(s) all default to the extSDcard.

Then once the SD card is installed/madeBigger, he needs to use a File Manager to move ALL of the pictures from the phone to the extSDcard/DCIM folder.

After that is done, everything should still show up in Gallery.
Plus, it will open up a lot of phone memory.

if that does not do the trick, he needs to do a Cache Partition wipe.

* Cache partition: Wipe cache partition
