My phone has a 32Gb memory card installed and configured. When I try to install an app (example Spotify) the phone tells me I don't have enough space.

That phone has quite a small internal memory.
2 things you can try:
Clear the cache of every app using
Settings
Manage applications
Select an app and press clear cache
Also for each app
Select move to sd card
The sd card is not used automatically to store apps
