Help Not getting SMS notifications while using chrome

I have the Boost MOBILE LG Volt 2 and whenever I'm using Chrome, my text notifications (the little message bubble in the status bar, vibrate, and sound.) don't work. Even after closing Chrome they don't come through. I have to go to messaging and see if i have anything new. I had this problem on my 1st gen Moto G, which is the phone I had previous to the Volt 2, and couldn't resolve it on that either. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

That is normal behaviour as 3g service your internet and sms but only one can work at the same time. This doesnt happen with 4g

No that's not normal behavior. Normal behavior is that sms and calls still come in via 3G. I usually keep my phones on HSDPA only (3G only) before I got a 4G device. However, I don't know what's wrong with the OP's phone.

Well, even on 4g with the new phone Its doing it.
