Help Not Getting Text Notifications

Pretty much as the title says - I'm not getting notifications for some new texts received. No sound, vibration, or alert in the notification bar. I only notice the texts are there when I open my texting to send a new message.

It probably happens 15-20% of the time, with no pattern that I can see. I've confirmed that phone is still set to vibrate and use notification sound. My phone is rooted but otherwise stock. Any ideas?

Are you using the stock app? Try a third party app like Textra.

Happens to me too at random times, but not all the time. Pretty weird if you ask me. Also happens in Facebook messenger too.

Exactly, it's the randomness of it that confuses me. If it was just when the phone was idle, or just when I'm using another app, or something like that, it would be much easier to figure out what's going on.

As for a third- party app, that's usually my first thought for texting issues, but I was hoping to avoid it in the interest of saving space for other apps. Right now I'm giving Chomp SMS a try (not a big fan of either Handcent or Go SMS) so we'll see if it seems to help. Of course this would be the day that no one is texting me...

It randomly happens to me too with hangouts. I feel it's a memory issue.
