Not in range, remembered

I have just bought the HTC Inspire HD. I cant access internet. I have a problem with the WIFI setting- All possible netwoks are "Not in range, remebered". How can I get around this problem? All suggestions are appreciated!

Is the device brand new or second hand ?
Have you tried a factory reset ?
Did you get a 4G sim with the phone ? Old 3G swap will not work
