I succesfully rooted my spectrum running ics with super uses and all. I was so proud of myself for doing it I cecide to try to flash a cm 10.1 something rom. Well when I hit bot from sd card it goes to boot screen saying error fastboot fastboot see you latrr or something to that extent. I have no cllue what ive done wrong but im sure I missed something prettyimportant and it reports tha I dont have sueruser on device. Any c lue to what I done wrong or can I start over some how? Thhanks jesse

Neph will probably come behind me with a link. But I would cab flash back to stock. And start over.

I've personally never seen a fastboot screen on the spectrum

Quoting Neph from earlier post:

"Install the drivers for your Spectrum if you have not already: http://androidfiles.massivefilehost.com/drivers/LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.3.1.msi

Grab this and install: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe

Let it update over the internet when you run it the first time.

Go options -> upgrade recovery

Follow the on screen instructions. You're on a GB based rom, so you should have no issues getting the program to auto pull the settings, but if you do, just type in your IMEI. Let it do it's thing and make sure you're not on a USB hub and that you're using a quality USB cable.

When all is said and done, you should be on ICS V8. You may need to factory reset your phone if you run into boot loops after the update. "

That would be great if I kknew what that was thanks jess

I think if you look in the "all things root guide" there is a link for cab flashing our phones (spectrum). I am definitely a NOOB, but I just did it tonight to see if I could.
I've been using the LG Support Tool that you can download to your computer for some time now to restore my phone to stock whenever I feel like doing it. But as with all things LG, I feel that someday I am going to go to use it again, and LG will have discontinued supporting our phones, and I will be up the creek.
SO, I followed the directions for cab flashing TO THE LETTER, and successfully restored my phone to stock.
The link takes you to a WIKI written by NEPH81 I believe, and if you do exactly what he says, it will work perfectly for you. Do you run windows on your PC?

UPDATE: Yeah, it's still there in the "all things root guide". I just clicked on it, and it took me right to the article. It takes a little time, but it works.
I have also had success with the LG Mobile Support Tool as well. That may even be easier, but I am not sure it would work in your situation.

Someone beat me to it I see, SEE ABOVE POST

HueyT is correct with my quote and that is what I would go with. LG broke the links to the cab files and I haven't updated my post yet. You can no longer download older versions to the .cab files and I'm still on the fence about publicly hosting them. So, unless you have a copy of the old cab file, I'm suggesting everyone just use the LG tool as it's intended. There really is no reason to go back to GB with the cab method anyways. IF, and it's a big if, they release a V9 and it breaks our root, then I will definitely host an older .cab version.

Absolutely. NEPH is correct, like I said in the above post, I've used the LG TOOL many times, and never had a problem. It seems to work better though if you use the "recovery" method from the LG menu in the tool. Take the back off your phone and write down the IMEI number, serial number, and version of course (VS920) for the spectrum, and then when you use the tool, fill in the fields with this information. The LG tool seems to work more quickly and efficiently when you do this. It really is easy, if you follow the directions TO THE LETTER.
Personal thanks to you NEPH for talking me through these processes, and answering many other questions. I was VERY nervous in the beginning, but I am now navigating through this forum and CWM and flashing roms without blinking an eye. And I am beginning to understand most of what you devs are talking about. LOL :smokingsomb::D
