Not receiveing email notifications

Hello everyone,

I have an LG Optimus One with android 2.2.1. I don't know if this is an issue specific to my phone but I don't receive email while my phone is locked. This is due to the fact that the wifi connection gets dropped after it auto locks the screen or I hit the lock button.

My work around is to leave the phon unatended and turn the screen auto lock up to 30 minutes, but this eats the battery. Is there a way to turn the WiFi on for very specific programs while the phone is locked or to get email notifications via WiFi?

I suspect this is not possible without at least a newer version of Android.

I'm not familiar with your specific version of the Android OS, but in my version 2.3.5 the email messages are still coming in during the described scenario. This was also the case for my previous phone, the LG Eve, which ran Android 1.5.

If yours is then switching off the wifi, could this then be a preference setting somewhere? Are you maybe running a battery energy saver app, that is switching the wifi off?

I know that the one I'm running could be configured to do exactly this - to crank up the energy saving somewhat further.

Just a guess - as normally, this function should work. So, there's probably a non-standard setting active *somewhere*.
