Help Not receiving emails

Hello! I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Verizon that is not receiving emails. I mainly use the Gmail app for my email, but it will not sync for some reason. I have checked the sync settings and everything is turned on, but it says the last sync was 10/22 (it is now 11/2). I only receive emails when I manually refresh it, but as I use this as the main source of communication with my boss I have to refresh my email literally every 5 minutes to ensure I receive all my emails. I decided to switch to using my Yahoo account and downloaded the Yahoo Mail app, but that will not sync and receive emails either, even though my phone says sync is on. I am regularly receiving AOL emails through the regular email app on my phone and through the AOL app. So I set up the Yahoo account with the email app, but I am not able to set up Gmail with that app, only with the Gmail app. And even so, my Yahoo account does not receive emails as quickly as AOL in the email app, even though they are both set to sync every 15 minutes. I tried checking the sync schedule for the Yahoo app and the Gmail app, but neither has a sync schedule in the settings...only on and off and they are both turned on, but not syncing. For work purposes, I can switch to using my AOL email, but that's where I receive all my junk emails so I really don't want to do that. And even if I do that, there are other important things I get sent to my Gmail that I need to receive on my phone and be notified about. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated!

UPDATE: I just sent another test email and I did receive it through the Yahoo mail app and the AOL mail app, but not Gmail.
