Help Not receiving texts (resolution: disable Google Voice when testing--could be interfering)

I've been having an issue with receiving texts for the last few weeks. Randomly, atleast every other day, there will be long periods (1-2 hours) where I will not receive texts and friends will say they texted me. Sure enough, I check google voice and the messages are there the minute they were sent. During these periods my friends outside of the Sprint network will get my texts whereas the ones on the Sprint network will not. Sending messages on google voice produces the same result. I've done the PRL update, reboot, etc. No help. I've switched from ChompSms, to Handcent, to stock. I have the same issue. I'm very sure it's either my phone or something with the PRL. What can I do?
 
what you should is contact sprint. let them know you are having sms issues. it could be something local to your region. it does not sound like a phone issue at this point.

are you able to send/receive emails normally? can you access the internet over 3G (not wifi) without issue?

hit *2 on your phone and lok at the data and voice test midway down on the page. are those both green? if so , again it maay be a local sprint issue or could be something with your account.
 
I didn't wanna say this but to be honest iv been having the same issue :( I got my 3vo on release day and I absolutely love the phone but this would be the first issue I have had since day 1 :( :( I live in Erie pa and i kid you not I have had the same issues the past few weeks! I didn't call Sprint cause i was hoping it wasn't my phone :( but maybe now I will do that !!

Tried talking to Sprint now but I don't have my pin and their public records for me are incorrect. I have to wait until I get home.
 
well unfortunately you can talk to 2 different reps and get two different responses... :(

does your friend have an evo 3d? if they have another handset then this kind of gives light that its not a handset issue and rather something on the network.

I have seen people post of delayed messages so you may be experiencing what some others have experienced..

Sprint thought they fixed it and I was able to text myself and it worked.
 
Wow I fixed it...

Google Voice was interfering somehow. I disabled google voice and now I can send/receive texts. I guess when you enable this feature, Google handles the work load of sending the data to your phone instead of the carrier. What a mess.

Ok got Google Voice disable and that fixed my text message problems. Now is there another option for voice mail on the 3vo (like Sprints VVM)?
 
Hey guys! I noticed you all had the same problem I did. I figured out that if you go into the Settings on Google Voice, and then click Sync and Notifications, there is a box that lets you pick where your text messages go. Just click the one that says 'via the messaging app' and you should be all set! :) That way you can still use google voice as a voicemail without the pain of the texts not showing up. :)
