Not responding to USB

Hi,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, when I plug in a USB via a micro usb --> usb connector ...nothing happens.

I can't find the USB on the device; I've preformed a search of the device for the USB's name, and crawled through settings, files etc. but can't find the USB.

Am I missing a trick here?

You're "plugging in a USB"? What "USB"? Do you mean something like a mouse or a memory stick? You need an OTG cable to do that, a standard USB cable won't do it. (If you're handy you can make your own by soldering one tiny wire on the microUSB side. Or you can buy one online for about $2.)
