Help Not sleeping during charge

Hello,
I am not sure what occurred, but after almost a full year of trouble free service, something causes the device not to sleep while being charged. I uninstalled suspicious apps, restarted, turned off and restarted, checked all of my settings and could find nothing that seemed like it would cause the problem. It has also had a tendency lately to lock up quite a bit. I have tried to clean the junk out as well to remedy the problem, but no luck.
All my apps - including Android - are up to date. I seldom use the browser, but have an antivirus.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jake

The only setting that causes this is under settings>developer options>stay awake (screen will never sleep while charging).

If it is not that, then it is most likely an app that is causing the issue. There is an app that can see what is keeping your device awake, but it requires root access Wake lock detector.

I agree with SolApathy but want to add one thing. If you don't have a " Developer" options, here's what you do. Go to "Settings > About > Software information > More > Build number". Tap on "Build number 7 times and Presto, you have " Developer options"
(Sorry about the emoticons showing "D, I didn't realize that Quotes with a capital D made the emoticon)

When you say that the device remains awake, do you mean that it remains awake at a high clock speed, thus heating up the device, or it just shows as awake in the battery screen? My devices have always stayed "awake" while charging, but monitoring the clock speed shows them to always be at a very low clock while charging, implying that they just stay awake in order to control charging.

Sorry to tell you but at least with the phones I've had (HTC), the screen should go off when charging. The display is a very big battery drain. Leaving it on while charging makes it take longer to charge. It has nothing to do with clock speed. Check out the items that cause the greatest drain, the display will be there. It's even worse with live wallpapers.
