Help Not sure how to describe it.

I was walking today with my phone when my music cut out so I went to check and it had turned itself off I thought it was due to heat. I tried to wake it, when that failed I tried to turn it on with the power button. After that didn't work I took the battery out and put it back in. It gave me the samsung logo and the Galaxy S relay logo then it black screens. If i boot into recovery or download mode it eventually just gives me a black screen. The power button doesn't do anything. the only way I can get it to turn on is to remove and insert the battery. I tried booting it with just the chord, but then it only gives a red charging light a vibrate that its turning on... Then another vibrate its turning on... then another before the red LED turns off and it just sits there. I'm not sure what happened to it. I went and got a multimeter the battery is holding a little over its charge. it says 3.8 on it I was measure 3.95. *when it crashed it was at least bellow 30% battery.
