Help Note 10.1 wont open doc OR docx

Hey all,

Just got the Note yesterday and am still climbing the learning curve.

I am currently trying to access both word doc and docx files through my college website and am unable to do so. When I click on the links (both known to work) my Note tells me that it is beginning download, but no matter how long I wait it will not complete a download. What do I need to do to successfully open these types of files on my Note?

Does the file just continue to 'download'? Do other documents open? Perhaps try a different browser I used to have difficulties with chrome and my university's intranet

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it just continues to download. After some time (maybe 10 min) I note that the download has failed. I haven't yet had cause to open any other types of files so I'm not sure if it works W/ other file types.

what do you mean about other browsers? I just use the one on the tablet & am not sure what it is.

Have a look in the app store at browsers like Firefox or dolphin and see if they behave any differently

Okay.

I just tried to download a pdf and powerpoint from the same site through the same browser and it seems to do the same thing. Though, I remembered, I was able to access pdf's earlier today when going through my Dropbox.
 
Those files are Word files and require an application that supports them, of which there are bunches. Documents To Go, Office Suite and others will let you play.

They do not require anything as the Note comes preinstalled with software to open them.

The issue was not with the file not being able to be opened as such. It was that the file got stuck downloading probably something to do with the link he was using not resolving(?) correctly in the notes stock browser

I do know that, but if you look at what I quoted, you will notice that I was replying to a post that mentioned installed an app for reading those, hence my answer.
