Note 2 Screen darkens with Kindle app.

Shortly after switching to Kindle app, the Note screen background darkens to gray and difficult to read. Screen background or brightness not affected by other apps. Any suggestions ?

Is it the Kindle App from the Play store, or the Samsung Kindle app from the Samsung store ( that gives you a free book per month)...

... either way try the other one and see if its better for you
