Note 3 Android Update 4.4.4 or not?

siniSSter

Lurker
I just picked up a Note 3 from Tmobile and was wondering if I should push through the latest update. It is currently running 4.3 with no problems. I guess my question is should I update it or just stay on the firmware I'm on now. Is anyone having issues with the lastest update?

Bump due to post/thread being relocated.
Hope those who've updated can help & perhaps give insight to the ANDROID 5.0 Lollipop update as well.

THX!:)

Which model Note 3 do you have @KOLIO? I'm guessing it is the SM-N900T?

I can't really offer an opinion if it is, but I'm liking V5.0.0 Lollipop on my Note 3 (SM-N9005 - international Qualcomm version). The Problem is, as with all Samsung's (not including the S6 which is all Exynos based) that there are a plethora of different models, all Note 3's look the same and yet are either Qualcomm or Exynos and further to that are either carrier branded Exynos versions with different model numbers or the international non LTE version the SM-N9000. Then you have Chinese variants of the Qualcomm version like the SM-N9008 it all gets a bit confusing.

World wide, the vast majority of Note 3's including all of Europe are SM-N9005 models, but these are non existent in a huge market like the States.

So that is why it the question needs asking. What is "bolted on" to Lollipop after the TouchWiz "bolt on" by the carrier or even taken off? What is locked down tighter than a ducks posterior by the carrier, what is not? It is impossible to compare them all, and we shouldn't.

I have the NOTE 4 & running a rooted/de-KNOX'ed Touch-Wiz ROM(Android 4.4.4) (DARTHSTALKER).
It does everything I need & don't feel compelled to "upgrade" to Android Lollipop 5.0
I may look around & test a TW 5.0 ROM this week, but, I'll likely return to my current set-up, which includes HTC's BLINKFEED. The best of both worlds, IMHO.

To get back to the OP's question:
I'm not sure if you update your phone that if it'll be an incremental one, updating to KIT KAT 4.4 & then updating once again to LOLLIPOP, or, if an OTA would bypass KIT KAT & go straight to LOLLIPOP.
Moght wanna contact T-MOBILE Customer Care & ask, or, perhaps use SAMSUNG KIES (if possible/applicable) & check for updates.
I actually did have the NOTE 3 when it first arrived, but, not long enough to make a judgment on whether it'd be better to stay on 4.3 or, update to 4.4 or 5.0

Questions like these are always hard for me to answer after having had the phone for so long. I don't remember what the last update was. I'm still using the Note 3 & it's just about time to get something new.

I was running 4.4.4 on my Note 3 --and it was running great! After upgrading to 5, I'm missing it terribly. I'm probably going to go back to 4.4.4 here pretty soon.
