The vast majority of battery draining complaints clear up with either a cache clear (via booting into recovery) or failing that, a factory data reset - where you have to backup and restore as much as possible - because that clears *all* caches.
This cache problem is very common for all major Android updates, across all devices and all versions, and it's been going on for years.
There's a chance that you can go through that and suffer something wrong anyway - that's going to be due to some app incompatibility or in the extreme case, a bad OTA update.
My brother uses his Note 3 like there's no tomorrow - updated to Lollipop weeks ago, nothing but happy with it, an improvement in every way according to him.
Others have reported issues.
