Help Note 3 not accepting stock firmware

A

Android Question

Guest
1. Manufacturer - Samsung
2. Model - Note 3
3. Software version - (4.3)
4. Specifics of the problem -
I recently found out that Lollipop was out for my specific phone but I knew I couldn't download it without un-rooting the phone (wanted to install it via the software update system). I looked online and followed a tutorial. I went on samfirmware.com got a stock 4.3 firmware and attempted to install it and follow the tutorial. The phone failed to install this and just restarted and worked. I thought if I installed the update of what my firmware was to a kit kat version (4.4) I thought that might work but it didn't. It got about 9/10 of the way and I got FAIL! (Size).

This has of course completely screwed up the existing firmware and I am unable to get onto my phone. I have attempted to put back its original firmware but I get the following message:

<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/006> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/006> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/006>
<ID:0/006> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

I am using odin3 v3.09 with the correct firmware e.g. UK n9005 Vodafone. I have tried different USB ports different version of Odin etc etc...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

5. Phone is rooted

The reason it failed was because the MID Checksum was failed. It would be advisable to go ahead to get the stock 5.0 rom instead.

(Can't find the Note 3 section sadly....)

Yep, jump straight to Lollipop. For a UK Vodafone Note 3 (SM-N9005) like this very one I'm Swyping this on go here :

Now use Odin V3.09 and before you do make sure recactivation lock is OFF on your Note 3. To do this go to settings>General>Security scroll down and make sure Reactivation lock is unchecked. This is by far the most common reason on a Note 3 why Odin fails.

All should be well. One it had finished flashing it may take up to twenty minutes (mine took just over 10) to reboot, don't panic all it is well it is your phone resetting itself back up. Lollipop is a massive update "behind the scenes" as it were the first reboot is just the file structure and the change from Dalvik to ART (Android Run Time) being initiated. Don't understand? don't worry you don't need to, just remember to have a full battery before you start, (it will slurp power while it is doing it's first boot on Lollipop, mine went from 94% on initiating Odin to 52% on booting for the first time) and remember first boot will take ages.

Good luck :)

Nothing to do with Md5 checksum, if you read his post it says on the Odin script "FAIL! (Auth)" In other words the phone would not authorise the flash. Almost certainly due to reactivation lock being checked on.
