Help Note 4 Camera menu overlay upside down

yep,
dunno WTH happened, maybe because I bit my tongue??

the camera's menu overlay is inverted, and when it saves pictures it saves the geo info upside down.

now i can't see the instructions w/o turning the phone upside down, and when I send out pictures to forums, they are upside down.... Turning the phone over is a bitch, as I have it in a folder type case.

not a Life and Death situation, but it sure is irksome.

I have tried going to 'Selfie Mode' and changing that to save as previewed.... did not help.

so, what do I need to do?

Perhaps the phone is upset that it didn't get any turkey yesterday?

Joking aside, and with the disclaimer that I have not seen this problem and so am guessing wildly, I would propose that the accelerometer might have got confused and think up is down. Try turning off the auto rotation to see if that has an effect. Also you could enter *#0*# in the phone dialer, select sensor from the list that appears and see what the readings for the accelerometer are (mine are x: 0 ish, y: 40 and z: 50 in a reasonable portrait reading position).

You could also try to reset the camera settings to see if something funny happened there.

Good luck sir!

Regards,
Eric.

Good answers, the AutoRotation is shut off automatically everytime the screen is locked by a macro.

I tried to reset the accelerometer by rotating the phone is every direction possible, I brought up GPS Status and Tools to see what the sensor was doing, and it was 180* out at first.... that was corrected, but the camera menu is still upside down in the preview window. And the images are upside down in gallery...

I have a macro that does a total power off, reboot every morning at 3 AM, so I can pretty much discount needing to power it off and reboot it... but I will do that in a few minutes just for drill.

Oh, I asked if it wanted gravy with the turkey, it piped up and said "NO!!! I want Cranberry Sauce" :p

Well,
it must have been the Cranberry Sauce that fixed it.

I powered the Note 4 completely off and just let it fallow for a while.
Powered it back up, and now the camera is un-wonky again

I tried to upload a couple of pix to finish the joke out, but Linux is bitching at me on this laptop. This is a brand new install of Linux Mint 18... on my other laptop, which has Linux Mint 17.3 sharing on it enabled w/o a glitch. I don't know what to do, I have tried the Admin permissions as shown below. Anyone here good in Linux? I am a MicroSloth escapee...

What I need to do is Share a folder so that my ASUS Filer Manager can access it via WiFi.

Well,
Anyone here good in Linux?

Yes, I am a Linux system administrator so I can try to give you a hand.

The screen shots you have posted relate to the sharing of your desktop, and therefore will only be useful if you want to remote control your laptop from your Note 4 or another computer (I use this quite frequently, but I guess this is not what you want). You will need to set up one or more Samba shares. Samba (or SMB or CIFS) is the file sharing protocol of Windows and is supported by Linux.

Now, I don't know Linux Mint (because I am a command line type of guy), but I would assume that you will need to install the samba package. Then you should be able to share one of your folders (it could be that your home folder is shared automatically). So, look in the package/application manager for something mentioning samba or SMB and install it (Note: you'll need the server not a client). Then try to connect again, you may get lucky with the default settings.

If you cannot find the package or don't get lucky, let me know how far you get and I'll try to help more.

Regards,
Eric.

What a Life Saver you are.

I found a package called GUI SAMBA and installed that, and Wallah! the next time I used that Share Option in the file manager, Bingo! it did what I wanted it to do.

@touringhaggis Thank You, thank you, so much...
