NOTE 4 Cases

I've been a naked phone guy with my N3 with a leather pouch, but some of these cases are tickling my fancy. Decisions decisions...a good problem to have.

If Nillkin makes a Matte Hard case for the N4 it'll be my choice. Unless a wireless charging solution prevents it. How do you set up a Samsung for wireless charging??

Can't stand bulky cases, don't need a wallet case, don't like leather. I go for slim TPU cases. Inexpensive, great fitting, still good protection, and don't add much bulk. I usually have several different TPU cases since they are 5 to 10 buck a pop and if I want a little different look or feel I just swap one out.

I hear ya. For some reason it annoys the crap out of me to see those fat Otterboxes on iPhones. What's really ridiculous is the Otterbox on a Note. I've been using a Diztronic on my S3 since launch.

I bought an otterbox for my Note 2. I use my phones in situations that could be hazardous to them (backcountry hiking/backpacking, jobsite as a conctractor, etc), but I found it too bulky in the otterbox and made the phone harder to use that I used that case maybe 4 days total. I bought an el-cheapo version on a otterbox for my Note 3 in case I needed extra protection, and have used that maybe twice. Just don't see the need, and Android phones in general seem to break less easy than iphones. It does make me laugh to see the big bezeled, but tiny screened iphones wrapped in a huge otterbox type of case making the entire cubic size of that tiny screened phone larger than my Note 3 in a TPU case (yes, cubic size, which is true size). Then to hear iPhone people say "my god your phone is HUGE"..... uhh, let's compare here champ..... wait they say, hmm, I guess yours is maybe actually smaller overall since I have mine wrapped in a humongous ugly otterbox case. It's always the same rationalizations from iPhone people on stuff like this. I hate intellectual dishonesty.

My wife has had an Otterbox on her N3 since she got it, and nary a complaint. *shrug*

I'm considering the Verus Damda, depending on hos the actual product turns out. The iPhone version is cool, but what they made for the S series was less then interesting...

Otterbox makes an excellent case, just too bulky. I have never had a phone get damaged anywhere but the screen when in a TPU case - many drops and unless you REALLY dropped the phone, TPU type cases do a very good job. The one thing an otterbox has is taller raised edges around the bezel, which can keep the screen further off the ground if dropped onto the screen. That's about the only advantage I see with an otterbox. Otherwise the things are just too darn bulky.

As far as the Note 4, I may get a tempered glass screen protector. I rarely use them screen protectors, but the tempered glass protects from direct drops onto the screen. I will still go with a slimmer, TPU style case most likely though. Combined with the tempered glass screen protector it should offer plenty of protection.

Sorry for the delay folks, been out due to RL...

Do you put that in your front pants pocket? Does it slide in and out of the pocket easily or is the surface tactile enough to grab fabric?

No, actually the whole thing fits perfectly into a horizontal belt holster for the Galaxy Mega!

:)

Does the flap fold back to make it easy to hold on calls while still in the wallet case?

You bet it does... I find no fault in this portfolio case at all. Love it.

You bought all these cases?

Yep. I've only received the grenade, ringke, and gmyle cases so far. I should be getting the spigen tough armor and glass.tr within two days according to shipping info.

I can already tell the grenade case isn't going to be the best fit on the Note 4. The soft TPU inner core already doesn't fit inside the hard plastic hybrid cover. I imagine it could only get worse once the phone is in it.I was also expecting the "grenade" part of the case to be soft rubber similar to a case I had for my note 3, but all the parts that should be soft in order to absorb impacts are really hard! Kind of a stupid design.

If I could, I would swap it out for this:
