Help Note 4 Help w/Transferring Contacts

LionJaz

Lurker
Hi All,
I have just purchaced a Note 4 on EE in the UK. I have an iPhone 5 and need to transfer all my contacts to Note 4. What is the best way ?? Also its asking me where to store contacts, device, or Google ? Which is the safest future proof option. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks, LionJaz.

If you are comfy enough; Google. Then when you sync a new phone you just point to Google. I don't use my phone storage for contacts. However you have to be comfortable enough with that data on "the cloud".

I prefer using Google as well. If you ever do a reset on your phone, or buy a new Android phone, the contact info comes back fairly easily and quickly. And I agree with what Bearcats said. That's why I use a discreet account. I don't access it for much.

Forgot to add this..
You aren't required to use one or the other ONLY.. You can use Google to store all the important numbers, ones you're ok with on the cloud. for numbers you're concerned about falling into the wrongs hands, you can store on the phone.

To transfer your iPhone contacts to the Note 4, I would suggest two resources.

(1) This article on Phandroid takes you step by step through the process:

(2) Google recently made their own resource called "Android Switch" that helps you transfer photos, music, contacts, e-mail, and apps from your iPhone to Android:
https://www.android.com/switch/

In terms of where to save your contacts in the future:
I would 100% recommend saving them to Google. This means they will be saved "in the cloud" on Google's servers. No matter where you are in the world you'll always have access to this information. If you update it in one place it will automatically update everywhere. If you get a new device you will immediately have access to all your contacts. And if you have multiple devices, they'll all use the same contact list and sync them- if you change something on one device it will be updated everywhere.
