Help note 4 insensitive proximity sensor

BBCHIN

Lurker
Hey, i can't quite find my problem on the Internet. My note 4 proximity sensor hasn't worked correctly since it's purchase. I thought at first that it didn't work at all during in call situations and voicemail, but come to find if i hold my thumb against the sensor then, expose it to extremely bright light (like right up to a 100w bulb) it will work most of the time. The sensor is clean and unobstructed, so it leads me to believe that the sensitivity is set wildly too low... does anyone have any input that could help?

proximity sensor and light sensor are 2 different things. which are you having a problem with- the screen not dimming/brightening or the screen not going off when you have it up to your ear during a call?

My issue when i remove the phone from my ear the screen stays black, making it difficult to put in prompts or end the call.

I had a similar problem with an S 5, try doing a reset all settings (not factory reset) within the backup and reset menu.

if that didn't work, factory reset. uncheck the automatic restore before you do it, though.
