Help Note 5 Bluetooth Audio Stutter / Skipping in Car

DJ Paris

I have a 2012 g37x with Nav. I recently bought a Samsung Note 5.

The every few seconds skipping that many have reported over the years via bluetooth with Infiniti cars is back.

I had a Note 3 and a Note 4 and rarely got the stutter. I would just reboot the phone and it would usually play fine the next time.

With the Note 5 calls work perfect. This is only an issue for playing music over Bluetooth.

I've tried a TON of solutions - like factory resetting the phone, clearing bluetooth application cache, etc.

The phone connects to a few other bluetooth devices I own just fine and plays audio flawlessly.

I sent a support ticket into Infiniti to have them test the Note 5 on the 2012 g37x. Will keep fingers crossed that they would care enough to check.

If anyone has advice for me, I thank you in advance!

Oddly enough I also own a 2012 G37S and it does the same thing. Unfortunately it also stutters at the beginning of each song to my LG bt headset as well as a Sony bt speaker in my house. This exact same thing happened on my S6 after the 5.1 update.
I use DoubleTwist as my primary music player. When I use the default music app on the phone it works fine (no stutter). So there seems to be a glitch using DoubleTwist on 5.1.1 over bluetooth.

I haven't tried it on the default music app, but I will and report back. It skips on PowerAMP and PlayerPro and the Listen Audiobook app. Thanks.

Update to this issue.

1. Took car to infiniti dealer. No bluetooth updates in TSB. We even went through all firmware updates to see if anything might be useful. Nothing.

2. Got a second Samsung Note 5 - sadly was able to replicate the issue. Still stutters every few seconds exactly as the first Note 5. Tested in about a dozen audio apps.

3. Heard back from Infiniti - they're able to replicate the issue, but don't know if it's an Infiniti issue or a Samsung Note 5 issue. The engineers are looking into it.

My guess is that bluetooth tech has evolved since 2012 and the car's firmware just needs a tweak.

Would be awesome if there was a way to convert the ipod port to an Android port, but I don't think you can do that. Maybe somebody will hack that together.

If you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks!

I am having the same issue with my Ram 1500 with uconnect. Skips and stutters with Bluetooth connection. I never had this problem with my galaxy s3...

I have the same issue with my LG HBS-760 Headphones. For me it skips when in the pocket of my Jeans, but when I put it in my Jacket pocket it works just fine.

I have a Bluetooth Speaker in my car (Plantronics - K100) that I have no issues with.

My thought is that it was a poor antenna design

I am having similar stuttering issues and it seems to get progressively worse. Like others, I have cleaned out the cache and reconnected, which seems to help for a short period of time (15min) and then it gets progressively worse. The digital sounds when it stutters is ear piercing. I am connected to an aftermarket Pioneer AVH-3600bhs which worked flawlessly with my Galaxy S4 (i believe KitKat?). So frustrated...Appreciate any other ideas...

I don't think the issue is anyone's car bluetooth, headsets or preferred music app we use. The only constant amongst all of us is the device (Note 5). No matter what media player or headset, I also experience skipping & stuttering.

Honestly is makes me use my iPhone more when I want to listen to music.
