Note 8 Netflix HDR Support?

Well, this is an interesting idea...

I am still holding out hope that Samsung is feeding disinformation to the tech blogosphere, and will support 4K UHD resolution in demanding applications like streaming movies and VR.

VR in 4K would be an awesome upgrade!

That's the ONE point of contention I have with the Gear VR... the SDE or Screen Door Effect. Magnifying a WQHD screen to that scale shows every individual pixel, and the VR experience is dampened by the feeling that you're not really there, but looking through a screen door. I wouldn't mind the Note 8 being in native WQHD for everyday tasks: seriously... nobody needs to tweet in 4K UHD! But once the Gear VR is on, it would be great to have that UHD to minimize SDE. Samsung can put controllers on the Gear VR and offer a wider field of view; until the quality of the image is improved, though, VR is going to remain a tech geek fad. My 2¢

Agreed with all of that. The new VR 2017 will have the same field of vision as the '16, no upgrade there. They will have the controller, but you can buy that separate now if you have an older version, so really there will be no major differences.
