I have a favourite widget, Glass Analogue Clock, and it was just too small on screen when ported to the Note 8 from the 4. It just didn't look right and alternatives just weren't the same or had the same issue.
I resolved this by going to Settings->Display-Screen Zoom and font
I Moved the zoom to medium and the font down 2 notches so nothing else was affected.
Worked a treat and now all my widgets that use fixed size images as backgrounds are fixed but my notifications, contacts and so on do not diplay the font any larger.
Hello gang,
I found a small battery saving adjustment that will make this battery last even longer. I'm currently getting 24hrs + with full charge with heavy use. But, first two days I noticed even though I wasn't using my phone during some idle time battery was going down. I played with it a few times and found that GPS is the evil culprit of this. For example I disabled my GPS this morning before full charge that finished at 10am and I'm still at 100% (about 2hrs). I did open and check few things but no more battery going down 1 or 2 % out of the blue.
So hint is if you are not using your GPS shut it down because it will cause small amounts of drain.
Hope this helps some people.
Cheers.
Android has become quite intelligent about turning off GPS and other location tracing when not in use. If you are having to manually disable Location to save battery it is worth investigating which applications are abusing it. Poorly written weather apps/clocks/widgets are a prime culprit but social media, news apps and others can also be to blame.
Decent apps will give you, or even default to not updating during Do Not Disturb hours so it is worth checking them to ensure it is enabled or findig one that gives this.
I'm not entirely sure how you can check which apps areusing location services the most. That would be a fantastic next tip. Off to search the web.....
If you go to Settings->Connections->Location you can put it into Battery Saving mode as an option to only use wifi and networks for location using Location Method.
It will also tell you which apps have recently been asking your location.
