Hello~ I have a Galaxy Note that I purchased and used in South Korea for a year. Now, I am located in Shanghai, China. Today, I went to China Mobile to buy a SIM card (and plan) for my phone. When I placed the SIM card in my phone, I could not get data networking to work. It just stays in Data roaming mode. I cannot even switch to allow data network access.
From what I was told, Korean phones are not internationally locked. However, I am not able to use the China Mobile SIM card for data. From what I was told today, there is a problem with my phone's settings... And I was also told that my phone needs to "flashed." I think. This is due to a chance of mis-translation by myself and my Chinese friend that I went with to China Mobile. In fact, my friend kept saying I need to "brush my settings".... I looked at the chinese characters... and that is what I came up with too..... Anyways..
Does anyone have experience with this type of situation? I have done a bit of research on how to flash a phone, and whether or not I need to flash my phone. However, I have not found anyone posting about this particular situation.
I would prefer to avoid the chance of bricking my phone. I am not actively wanting to flash a custom rom on my phone, but if that is necessary to use my phone in China, then sobeit. My main concern is not so much with being able to make calls and send/receive SMS. I am more concerned with connecting to a 3G network, as I use my phone 96% of the time for internet, games, downloading, etc (all data related things).
Thanks for reading. And thanks for any help one may give me~ ^_^
