Hello DaRealSlmShady. It sounds like maybe you like the Note 2. ;)

Well, the best apps for the Note 2 are the same as the best apps for any device: the ones that suit the user's needs the best. :)

If I list mine, and other users list theirs, you'll end up seeing hundreds, thousands of apps listed here. It'd be easier to do a search in Plays Store under the type of app sought.

I personally like to try the free version of an app or widget, then purchase the paid version if it seems right after a day or so of use. I've ended up with a lot of great games and a few tweaking apps that I like but others say they don't like.. so, again, it's all about individual user experience. :)

Good tips are here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...re-tip-trick-app-you-have-found-note-2-a.html

I am not a games person even on a PC but must admit Real Racing 3 on the Note 2 is amazing and it is FREE addicted already.............LOL

One that I recently found out about in another thread on here is S Pen Helper! What's great is that obviously, it's an app geared towards the Note series, but the main reason I downloaded and am using is because it allows you to set ringtones for taking the S Pen out and putting it back in...without rooting!

So, I have the Star Wars lightsaber sounds I've been wanting to do, without my actually going through and finally rooting my phone.

The apps that give me a bit of the 'waw' feeling are 'The Night Sky' / 'Google Sky Map' and 'Flight Radar24'. I do not use any of them often but when I do so, to be able to so easily identify stars, or that plane passing over, is just great.

Edit. I have just been reminded - by a repeating error message - that The Night Sky crashes. I have not used it for a while and had forgotten that sorry fact. Clicking 'Report' does not seem to achieve anything either.

#Drexappeal is the light saber sound part of the app or separate? I want this badly.

No it's not. But it's easy to find. Either download the mp3 online and place in your alerts folder or download a star wars soundboard, save the sound as ringtone, find hard file and move to alerts folder.

If you don't already know how to set up folders for ringtones and alerts, check the FAQ sticky. There is a step by step explanation.

So....you're telling me that I can make my phone moan every time I insert and withdraw my s-pen? Without rooting? You are <insert amazingly awesome adjective here>

Yup! Any mp3 sound that you would set up for notification use can be set as spen remove or insert. So if u wanted to go the xxx route, I'm sure you could find mp3's that would apply.

I also use widgetlocker, so I had previously set the lightsaber as my lock/ unlock sound, but now that is dedicated to the s-pen sound. Be sure that once you download spen helper, you disable sound notification for spen on stock settings, or you will end up with 2 sounds playing.

Already set it up! Thanks for the app. And I prefer the sensual route ;)

I can't seem to do this. Can any help. I go into select detachable sound, then into my media/alerts and select the mp3 but get nothing.

As long as you have the enable detachment sound toggled, I don't see why this wouldn't work at all.

I've just completed a crossword and yet again, one of my favourite apps has come to the rescue; namely 'Advanced English Dictionary & Thesaurus'.

It is available in either online or offline modes and is free with adverts or 0.62 pence (< 1 USD) without ads from the Play Store.

Notifications to remove or insert the pen. It's the only option inside s pen helper that intrigued me. I followed all directions to a t.

Are you wanting the Star Wars lightsaber sounds or something else on it? Regardless, these are the steps I'd recommend to ensure that it will work (it should, as you're the only one to have reported that it didn't work):

Preliminary Setup (for any notifications you'd want to use on your phone), unless folders are already created:
1) Create "media" folder in either your internal storage or external storage (whichever you prefer)
2) Create "audio" folder in the "media" folder
3) Create "notifications" folder in the "media" folder
4) Place sounds that you'd prefer using in the "notifications" folder. Hard files (mp3, wav, ogg, etc.) needed in order for this to work.

Setting up sound to be used for S-Pen Detachment/Insertion Sound:
1) Open S Pen Helper
2) Make sure that S Pen Tab is toggled at the top (blue line should be under S Pen tab)
3) Click toggle to "ON" next to Enable
4) Scroll down to Sound
5) Click toggle to "ON" next to Detach/Insert Sound
6) Click on "Detachment Sound" or "Insertion Sound" and a window should pop up with two (2) selections A) Select sound or B) Remove existing sound
7) Click on "Select sound"
8) Go through the different folders to find the location of the sound that you prefer using. If you had done the preliminary setup, the folders should be extsdcard or sdcard>media>audio>notifications
9) Click on the sound that you want as the "Detachment Sound" notification

Now, if you were wanting to get the lightsaber sounds, those have to either be downloaded from an app soundboard or online and moved to the notifications folder, in order to ensure this will properly work.

Also, be sure that your Notifications volume level is turned up. The sound of the S-Pen detachment/insertion only comes up, if the notification volume is on. If the notifications are on silent, then you won't hear the S-Pen sounds.

Hope this helps.

I thought i should come here to say that i have had my note for about 1 month now and i love it! I'll have to say, it's amazing! Got it rooted and flashed Criskelos rom and everything is just perfect! Thanks for all the apps!

Holy Cow!!!!

I rooted my Galaxy Note II months ago for the specific purpose of modifying it to use those lightsaber sounds....

...however, I hated having the phone rooted because of the problems involved when there were carrier updates issued. Ultimately, I decided to forego the root and restore the phone.

Never knew I actually had the option to use those lightsaber sounds without rooting.

I tried S-PEN toolbox. It worked, but unless I paid for the PRO version there was a sound delay when attaching and detaching the pen.

S-PEN HELPER worked much better. There is a PRO version, but using the free does not institute a delay when removing and inserting the pen.....

...best of all, you don't need the sound files to be in MP3 format. I used the original root sound files found here:
