Help Note II screen crash

This started about 3 days ago. I believe the main reason is that the phone is overheated when this problem occurs, the first time it happened I was using it extensively and the outdoor temperature was very hot and sunny. What happens is that the phone completely freezes or crashes and only a colorful display with lines is shown. When this happened for the first time I removed the battery manually to shut off the phone because the screen and buttons were not doing anything. The image of how the screen looks when the problem occurs is in this link puu.sh/jnvSu/0032abb767.jpg

Is there a fix or a diagnosis of what causes this? If I can get the phone to turn on I will factory or hard reset it to see if it happens again. Thanks in advance.

If it was overheating that caused it, the only "fix" is not to overheat. Then the question would be whether the overheating was just due to heavy use in a hot environment (especially if charging at the same time), in which case it's just a matter of modifying usage to avoid this (e.g. not charging when using heavily). The phone should throttle down to reduce heat production to try to avoid such crashes, but maybe it didn't do that well enough. There isn't much else you can do, unless you want to try rooting and using a custom kernel that reduces the cpu voltage (which will reduce heating somewhat) or lets you tweak the thermal control parameters (throttle the cpu at lower temperatures, to reduce the risk of it reaching the shut-off point).

Another possibility is that the overheating is due to a hardware fault. If that is the case the only actual fix will be a repair (most likely a motherboard replacement), so let's hope it isn't that.
