Note screen stays on when charging. how to turn off?

My note's screen stays on when it's charging. Can't work out why/or how to stop it.

If I then press lock/hold (power button), then the screen goes dark.... until I get an email/call/notification, and then the screen will stay on until I attend to it again.. Which is annoying if I leave the note charging whilst I sleep - it will be real hot when I wake up cause the screen's been on all night!


Any ideas?


Would the screen lock (donate) app cause a problem? I've been using that app for months without any probs

Man i remember this. Am no longer on the stock rom but it should be available under the Development option under setting. You probably have the Stay Awake option enabled.

I have the Stay Awake option via Developer Option on Cayanogen Mod. Just look around and am sure you will find it.

Sorry for being generic but i didnt stay on the stock rom long enough to memorize where each settings go.

I can't see any stay awake option anywhere in the display, power, even looked in developer settings, even 'dock' settings too.


Any other ideas people?
 
Just a thought but maybe it will work for you... There's an app called stay awake - free download in play store which enables / disables stay awake when plugged and another option for always. If you enable then disable this feature in the app it might fix your problem?
 
I've not found a solution. I've uninstalled the apps that I think I installed since the problem, but no change to the screen.

There isn't a stay awake option in any of the submenus (and that includes the developer sub menu).


It's mildly annoying, I now just switch my phone off at night when it's charging.
 
I have this same issue on my Skyrocket running stock gingerbread. It just started happening a couple of weeks ago for no apparent reason. I've uninstalled all recently installed or updated apps as well as some old ones to be sure. I originally thought maybe some setting in Gentle Alarm could be doing it, but nope.

I imagine a factory reset would resolve, but who knows if it'll pop up again or not. If the screen would remain off after pressing the power button, it wouldn't be too bad, but once the phone is charged, then the screen comes back on.

Seems minor to some, but this can be quite annoying to others.
 
As an update to this, instead of trying the Stay Awake app from the market, try the Stay Awake Widget instead. This will allow you to disable the option as opposed to just enabling it. This is how I finally resolved this on my Skyrocket. Extended Controls also has a toggle for this if you have that widget.
 
Wow thanks, I've got extended controls, and I've just solved the problem by using the widget you've suggested.

Finally the phone's screen stays off when charging and after recieving an alert!
