Note-taking app for college students?

Hello all!
I'm an engineering student in college. Just recently my aging 11'' laptop started dying and I came across the thought of getting a tablet pc.

I have my eyes on a android based tablet. But one last thing before I buy it is that I need to make sure there is an app that allows me to take notes. Something similar to apple application called "UPad".
youtube video on the newest UPad

three things that are most important for me:
1. being able to hand write (with a stylus), because I need to write down formulas and draw graphs all the time;
2. being able to edit and highlight and take notes on pdf, ppt and word documents and being able to save and export them.
3. being able to somehow organize the notes, like by subject or date modified.

Everything else is a plus.

I'm pretty much happy with what Upad has to offer. Please let me know if there's something out there that matches my requirement. (i did a couple of hours of research for it but didn't find anything desirable.)

Thanks for the help.

Sean

I'm not sure about the writing witha stylus part but have you looked into Evernote? its pretty good: you can definitely sort notes, transfer to Word and other programs, you can take photos (say of the instructors notes on the board) and insert them into your notes etc.

There is a free app which is pretty darn good, but there is also a paid version.

It was just written about in the May 7 Wall Street Journal as one of the best notepad programs. I read that, downloaded it and so far really like it.

But I really want an app that can be a substitute for paper notebook and take advantage of the touch screen of the tablet PC. Editing equations and drawing graphs is a huge pain on keyboard.

Take a look at the new HTC Flyer. I think it will be perfect for you. It comes with a smart stylus.

Well, being an engineering student, typing reports is also a big part of my work. The tablet I wanna get is the Asus Transformer. It comes with a full sized keyboard and a SD card slot (my camera uses SD card, which works great).

This note taking app is the only thing left to make the whole experience perfect. I'm holding off the purchase until I figure out a way to take notes and edit pdf on it.

There are several apps that do part but I don't know of any that do everything you asked for.
Whiteboard for instance.

Did you find any of these apps to work out for you, or find others that worked? I'm in a similar predicament...I want to be able to switch back and forth between a bluetooth keyboard, and hand writing within the same program, but havent been able to find anything to suit my needs.

Try Maplepaint! I just stumbled upon it in another post, and it allows you to switch between the keyboard, and a pen....I'm really excited about this, maybe too much so, but its exactly what I've been looking for, and from the sound of it, you too.

Thank you, Sean, for starting this thread. I'm in the same boat with researching tablets and available applications for grad school (Science-based, as well).

Thank you, Harry, for the RepliGo Reader suggestion. After some looking into, THIS IS THE APP FOR SCHOOL! I'll repost with updates once my tablet is bought, app is downloaded and is used in the classroom.

THANKS to all for your contributions!

Repligo is really just what I was looking for!
I'm in engineering too and my mother bought a tablet and I could have it if I'd use it for school..
This one's going to save me the trouble of having to drag all those books with me since the pdf's are online..

Anyway, another app that can be useful: LectureNotes
Also note taking, but no pdf's..
Just sharing :)
