notepad clone?

Is there an equivalent to notepad I can get for android? I want something unsupported so I don't lose functionality when it updates. Just a simple notepad I can save as a text file. Thanks for the help.

I use one called Simple Notepad.

From the millions of apps that have reviews that go pretty much like this: "Great app until the update, now it doesn't work!! Please fix!!"

Yeah i have apps where there are reviews like that and in my experience, nothing went wrong in my case. Besides, if you are saving the files in a .txt file, the app breaking won't be a problem because the files still exist in the phone. Get another app.

I guess you can make sure the app you use does not automatically update itself. That should give you the option to update or not.

That's what I do for everything. So if I see hundreds of comments saying "update is broken", or "now has ads"..I won't update.

Why don't you just backup your current version before you update? There are apps for that.

It may be a bit overkill for what you're after, but my go-to mobile text editor is Jota. It's one of very few I've found that can elegantly handle massive text files. Also supports some degree of syntax highlighting for scripting!
