Help Notification from something at 5:29am

Lurker
My girlfriend just got a Droid 2 Global and since this is the first Android phone we've had experience with, we're still learning. For some reason the past 4 days, the Notification ringtone has gone off at 5:29am. Why????

We turned off the other ringtones like full charge (why would this ever be necessary?) and I changed the notification ringtone to verify it was indeed this ringtone going off.

It's not the alarm tone and I couldn't find anything else in the alarm settings that could do this.

It's weird it is the exact same time every morning. How do we find out what is causing this notification ringtone?

Something would generally come up in the notification bar if it is playing the notification sound. Could be any app that gives notifications.

I'll have to check on the emails but not sure why they would be coming exactly at 5:29am every day unless there is something set up to do so.

Definitely not the stock alarm. She has an alarm set for 5:00am and it's definitely a different ringtone.

OK, I guess we'll have to be ready at 5:29am tomorrow to check the notification bar to see what it could be.

Thanks for the replies and if there are any other suggestions, feel free to post.

the stock battery setting turns data off at night, so if her alarm is set for 5, that means data is turned back on at that point. Emails should come in immediately, though, not 29 minutes later...

You could be onto something. Are you positive that data comes back on when the alarm goes off? Because in the stock battery manager settings, you get to set "Off peak hours"... She has an alarm set for 5AM.. Perhaps she set her off peak hours to end at 5:29AM, thinking that 30 mins after she got up is the soonest she'd actually be using her phone?

well, from my experience, the data comes back on when the phone is woken up. I usually start getting emails right after my alarm goes off, which is why the 29 minute delay has me baffled.

I guarantee she didn't set any off peak hours because she wouldn't know what that was, unless setting it by accident. When I told her about the notification bar, she didn't know what that was.

So anyway, this morning sure enough at 5:29am the notification went off. I checked the notification bar and there were a lot of icons there. I figured out how to bring it down and see what was there. Eliminating some that I don't think it could be, these are the ones that were left:
Updates available
Blockbuster finished update service
Facebook messages
New email

The last two don't really sound like they would be going off at the same time every morning. She has not done anything with the Blockbuster app and doesn't plan on using it, so I'll have to see if I can determine how to stop it from doing any updates.

I see there's some kind of Clear option in the notification bar. Didn't get a chance to try it this morning but I'm assuming it clears all the notifications. If that's true, we'll try doing that before going to bed tonight and see if that helps pinpoint something in the morning.

change your email notification ringtone as well to help

also, if your phone wakes up and data starts flowing in, you should get several notifications all at once.

When she discovered the battery was getting used extensively she changed the battery setting to maximum battery saver so it's not the stock nighttime setting.

Email and SMS ringtones have been changed now to be different than the general notification.

Full charge notification has been turned off. That was annoying in the middle of the night! LOL

Blockbuster updates have been stopped.

Notification bar has been cleared and will be cleared again before going to sleep.

We'll see what happens in the morning!

Mystery solved. It was an email from Google Calendar telling the events for the day.

Personally I prefer no sound when an email comes in but now she says she likes that, although she doesn't really use gmail. If she did and she was getting that notification sound throughout the day, we'd be turning it off. :)

Thanks everyone for the help!
