Notification light: Love it or hate it?

Man this notification light is a work of art. Never thought that something so basic could get so much attention. Everyone that sees it likes it or inquires about it. They say it looks like a robot eye :D. It really trips them out when its sitting on the desk at work and they hear DDDDRRRRROOOIIIIDDDDD and see the light! LOL!

Both. Love it, grabs your attention, looks beautiful. Everyone I've known has liked it too.

Hate it because it cant replicate orange. And the way the phone sits by my bed it lights up the entire wall instead of the usual ceiling like my Droid X haha.

I like it but not because it looks cook just sitting there - in fact to me you can barely see it unless of course it is lit up. But I love that I can customize it with apps to give me different colored lights for different notifications. Now I can check by looking down into my front shirt pocket to see just what that notification I got while at work (silenced phone) is. I use Light Flow and it works great.

I do agree with the previous poster thought that I wish there was better control of a wider number of colors. I've only been able to get six distinctly different colors to show up. A couple more would have been cool. I'm not sure if this is hardware limited or if a future firmware update will allow more colors.

I prefer the led on the OG Droid. This is like a neon sign. I prefer something a little more subtle. The Droid led also produced more colors. The led is one of the things about this phone that disappointed me. I also don't like google search wasting screen space (can be disabled but space cannot be used), and I wish the navigation bar on the home screens were transparent to show off the full sized screen.

Despite those things I really do like the maxx hd!

At first I didn't like it because it was so bright that I had to put a sock over it during the night. Then last night I figured out that if I put it into desk clock mode and touch the screen, it puts it into a night mode and the notifications don't come in. Case solved. That was my biggest complaint. This is a great phone.

Comparing it to other phones, one can appreciate it.

I heard the Bionic's was too small or not bright enough. The Rezound...it's bright but too small IMO. The G Nex..it's big...but it starts off low, gets brighter then gets low. I hated that.....lol.

Hate it. Is there a way to turn off? Just another battery drained if ive left phone in car or if blinking on low battery.

We have two of these in my home - and let me tell you... if we both get a notification at night it sure lights up the room lol.

Use Light Flow (free lite version available) and you can control it with duration (short intervals as low as 1 minute) or disable it altogether.

Just enable light flow and then goto notifications and uncheck all of the programs? or is there a different way to disable all?

All with Light Flow, you can use the sleep mode to turn off all lights between your normal sleep hours. My girlfriend did not like the light the first night we had it, but the sleep mode in Light Flow works perfect to turn it off at night.

From the main menu (the screen with the icons like Settings, Notifications, etc.) select Settings. Make sure Enable Light Flow is on - there should be a blue check mark in the box to the right. Now scroll all the way down to the CHARGE SETTINGS area (a little farther down than halfway) and click on Enable charge settings and then select the features you want to stop below that. You can select to stop the Light/LED, Sound and/or Vibrate.

Works great. When you pull the phone off the charger in the morning any notifications you had will now show up.

I used this feature in conjunction with a Smart Action that silences the phone (calls and texts) when the phone is being charged on a wall socket but with VIP callers who an get through for emergencies. So now when I'm charging/sleeping at night I get nothing except calls/texts from family members who I want to be awakened by.

What if I never want LED notification? Even during day when not charging. How do I set that up?

If you don't want any LED notifications then why would you even install the program to begin with? I don't understand.

Because the Razr MAXX HD automatically lights up that LED everytime anything happens (ie. email, text, updates avail, etc). I'm trying to get rid of that and there is no way that I can tell to turn that off on phone and still get notifications on bar or icons.

Duh - sorry about that! I'd forgotten that this thread was originally about the notification light itself and not about Light Flow!

You can use the built-in Smart Actions function to shut off the notification lights. Actually, what you would do is build a Smart Action to shut off the background sync and turn off the wifi. You could trigger it with a timeframe or something like when you plug it in to charge (assuming you do this every night while you sleep.).

I've got a thread post in this section that links to a great thread on this site all about Smart Actions. You can do a lot of really cool configuration of your phone using it.
