Notification light

My own answer - Go to Settings in G Mail and be sure the E Mail Notifications is checked.

I do not recall turning it off but somehow it was off.

Problem solved!!
 
I also did this once and think what happens is if you are scrolling in your settings and your finger touches the notification area to move the page, it unchecks the box. I thought I lost my sync when it happened.
