The phone isn't on silent either. I have changed the tone loads of times but it's still not playing anything.can anyone solve the problem

cheers

won't a factory reset wipe everything off the phone i have downloaded though? I have selected a ringtone as i said in the first message i have changed it to various songs and it's still not playing a message tone. When someone rings me it goes off but the message tone isn't.

Hi,

How have you saved it to your phone. I had a similar problem. Ringtones/alerts & notifications are kept on your SD card. Connect your phone to your computer and search the SD card for a folder called Media. Inside the media folder there should be a folder called Audio and in there a folder called notifications. The sound file should be in there, then it should work.

If this folder is not on your SD card make one. Create a new folder named Media, inside that folder create a folder named Audio, inside that a folder named notifications and put your message tone in it.

For any other ringtones ect. create the olders in the same way.

\Media\Audio\Alarms
\Media\Audio\Notifications
\Media\Audio\Ringtones

P.S is the volume on your phone turned up ?? Had to ask.

Hope this helps.

Whizzkids got you covered here also make sure your file is in a compatible format. i,e mp3,wav

hey just thought of this go to settings then sound then volume, u can push all your volume status for all actions to maximum.

I'll have to try that. I have a similar problem, I've changed my ringtone to mp3, all good, but I can't get the notification tone to work. I've saved it in the media - notification file (It was one cut using a ringtone maker app) and when I go in to my settings and go to notification ringtones, it does appear. I click on it and then when I get a text, plays something different. I did notice that when my med minder app goes off, it'll play it then.
so it goes like this -
Text - Plays what it wants, for texts and delivery reports (same tune everytime)
to do task lite - Plays want it wants (Same tune everytime)
Med minder lite - plays the mp3 I set it to in notifications.

What is going there then? Anyone know?

Mine is saved in my memory card, but STILL won't come up when I get a text. Like I said, it works for reminders from the to do list & my meds minder.

Anyone have any ideas why?

select messages, press the menu button, go to setting, select ringtone at the bottom...

Worked, IDK why it wasn't working by going to settings > sounds > notifications> "select tone"> ok

Found out that this was because under this setting i didnt have DEFAULT RINGTONE set, this will allow you to change the tone from the sounds menu, so if you having this issue check that then select your tones ;)

Sorry folks - I did solve this problem! But migth not work for all -
I downloaded another text app - very popular one, but I can't remember the name of it - post it and I will know!
I managed to get the new sounds to work on the that, but then I got cheesed off with texts coming through in 2 places as I still had my old inbox (didn't know how to get rid of that).
So I had the sounds I wanted on the new, crap on the old. I got rid of the one I downloaded and hey presto - my current normal inbox for texts managed to play the tones I wanted. No idea why or how, but it did. Worth a try.
