Help notification problem

Out of nowhere my text notification will only play the stock "optimus" notification sound. I have several custom notifications I downloaded and have been using, but if I try to change the notification sound to any of those (or even any of the pre-loaded sounds) the phone will still only play the optimus sound. I don't understand why it happened or how to correct it, please help!

When you change the sound, do you hear the new sound? When you say OK, then go back and look at it, does it stay selected, or has it gone back already?

Yes I can hear the sound, and it also shows that the sound should be what I chose. However, whenever I get an actual text message, it plays the optimus sound.

are you using an alternate sms app? Check the settings of your app...
