notification ring tone will not change

[stonehands]

Hi all, new to the forum just got my first android phone last week. I want to change the notification ringtone for text messages and have gotten my ringtones to show up in the notification ringtone menu, but the phone will not change the notification ring tone at all, not even to one of the other stock ring tones that came with it, Im really confused , any thoughts folks ?

Thank You

Well, obviously, you should be able to choose among the stock notifications. You should address that before proceeding. Tried a reboot?

FYI ringtones are for calls. Notifications are just notifications. Stick your custom ringtones in a folder named Ringtones on your SD card. Stick your custom notifications in a folder named Notifications on your SD card. Stick your custom alarms in a folder named Alarms on your SD card.
