notification shade in browser on eris

Hello, I am new to Android and just recently purchased an eris. I have noticed that you cannot access the notification shade in the browser. This is frustrating because you cannot check notifications while browsing the web. Is there anything I can do to get the shade in the browser? Thanks.

No, you can't do anything about it with the stock browser. You can try the Dolphin browser. That one has the option to leave the notification bar visible.

I don't think you can view it in the browsser. You just have to pull the shade down when you notice a change in the shade.

will android 2.x update fix this? I believe that the shade is available in the browser on the Droid.
