None of my notification sounds work. They play under sounds but not when I receive an email or a text or a voicemail or anything. Volumes all the way up. Media sounds work. Any idea how to fix this?

In android, each app controls its own notifications. So if you want SMS notifications, you have to open the messaging app and go into the menu and make sure they are enabled. Same with email apps, facebook, twitter, etc. To enable notifications on any other app you have to go into the settings for that app. The only notifications that are controlled at the system level is the phone ringer. Go into the settings for each app and make sure that notifications are enabled and that you've chosen the correct sound for each.
In the "sounds" portion of your phone settings, verify that ringtone & notification volumes are turned up (in many versions of Android they are linked together).
